Visiting by boat
ATTENTION: NEW Ashbridge’s Bay Outer Harbour
Visitors to ABYC by boat will see big changes due to two ongoing construction projects. The Toronto Region Conservation Authority (TRCA) Landform Project is making new land to the south of the Ashbridge’s Bay Treatment Plant (ABTP) and building two breakwaters which are creating a new “Ashbridge’s Bay Outer Harbour”.
There is a drill rig located in the ABTP Outfall In-Lake Work Area as well as several structures extending more than 10 feet above the water. The coordinates of the work area are given on the map (link). This drill is outside of the new Ashbridges Bay Outer Harbour”. The “Landform On-Shore Work Area” shown in green on the map is being filled in; the perimeter is mostly completed. The “Landform In-Lake Work Area” is the breakwater that will form the west side of the new outer harbour. It is an active construction zone and should be avoided.
There is a completed breakwater extending south from Ashbridge’s Bay Park which will form the eastern side of the outer harbour. Once boats going to the ABYC main harbour pass between the ends of the breakwaters, they should keep right and enter our main harbour close to the rocks on the south side of the entrance. It is recommended to have your sails lowered and your engine on when entering the Bay. Be forewarned that there is increased traffic of power boats and jet skis.
GAS Dock
Boats going to the ABYC gas dock should keep to the WEST side of the outer harbour before proceeding through the Coatsworth Cut, respecting WITHOUT QUESTION the bendy narrow channel marked by the green and red buoys. Please be aware of the shallowness north of the buoys.
Ashbridge’s Bay Yacht Club is located at the foot of Coxwell Avenue, at the west end of the boardwalk, adjacent to Toronto’s popular “Beaches” neighbourhood.
Take the Gardiner Expressway east to its termination at Lake Shore Drive. Continue on Lake Shore Drive to Coxwell. Turn right into Ashbridge’s Bay Park and bear to the right at the first fork. Continue on the Park Road past the Lion’s Club and the Toronto Hydroplane and Sailing Club into the parking lot. At the far southwest end of the lot is the entrance to ABYC.
Take Kingston Road west to Coxwell. Turn south on Coxwell and continue into Ashbridge’s Bay Park.
