Racing at ABYC

RACING OVERVIEW

ABYC firmly believes that racing is the life-blood of a yacht club, and we encourage any member who has not raced before to consider becoming involved in this aspect of sailing.

The PHRF rating system is used for most Club races. ABYC also has a number of one-design fleets that do not require handicapping, but except for these, skippers will need an up-to-date rating certificate to be able to compete. Forms and instructions are available just outside the Club office, and additional information is available from the Club handicapper.

Members who have not raced before can learn first by crewing on another boat to get the hang of things. In order to access the “Crew Bank” page, click here. Those members who are interested in ongoing Race Committee work, or would like to help on the committee boat, should talk with the Rear Commodore.
