Fees for a spouse/partner of an Associate are $151
Associates must contribute 3 hours work to the club each year. Uncontributed hours are charged at the end of the year

Intro Associate Members Fees

Intro Associate members have full access to our clubhouse, bar, restaurant, patios, BBQs, parking, social events, and the property. They can get involved in Racing at no extra charge, by participating in our Crew Night and our racing crew bank.

The fee for an Intro Associate member is $125

Additional Benefit of Intro Associate Membership:

Store a Sailing Dinghy, Paddleboard or Kayak at ABYC by paying the yearly storage fees:

$175 for Paddleboard of Kayak
$250 for a Sailing Dinghy

Senior Membership

Senior Membership is a full family membership with use of all Club facilities. A Senior Member is entitled to the use of a dock in our harbour and off season storage for one vessel (both subject to availability), may vote at Annual & Special Meetings and can hold office in the Club. They must be 18 years of age or over, pay their initiation fee and boat introduction fee (based on boat size) upon acceptance, and pay dues, assessments, and storage fees annually, and other charges levied per club policies from time to time. A Senior Member’s spouse may participate in all club activities, but only one of them can exercise voting privileges at an Annual or Special Meeting. When two or more people (other than spouses of one another) own a boat in partnership, at least one owner must be a Senior Member and pay initiation and boat introduction fees, with any other co-owner(s) required to join as Associate(s).

I/We hereby acknowledge that my/our Senior Membership is on a Trial basis for the period of (1) ONE year from date of membership approval and can be cancelled by the Club at any time during that period. Member initiation and boat introduction fees may be returned to the member at that time.

Slip Assignment*

I/We acknowledge that acceptance as a Senior Member does not guarantee an immediate dock. In addition, I/We acknowledge that Members do not have a right to any particular dock and that the Club assigns docks on a seniority basis and may reassign a dock during the year. I/We also acknowledge that oversized boats, as defined by the Club, require Board approval before being admitted.

Contribution Commitment*

I/We acknowledge that ABYC is a working club and that all Senior Members are expected to contribute at least 35 hours of their time to help maintain the Club and its programs. I/We agree with this commitment, and I/We will contribute or under exceptional circumstances pay the appropriate fee in lieu of contribution hours. I/We acknowledge that in the first two years I/We am/are obligated to do work hours and can not choose the payment option; for required hours not worked in the first two years, the member will be billed at the contribution hour rate plus a 50% penalty.

I/We hereby confirm that my/our boat will not be used for any commercial activities, inside or outside the Club property.

Data Sharing*

I/We give permission to the Club to obtain and share internally the names of my/our children under the age of 18 years with select groups inside the Club (Family Committee and Junior Sailing School), for the sole purpose of youth activities at Ashbridge’s Bay Yacht Club.

Club Rules and Policies*

I/We agree to abide by all Club By-laws, Club Policies, Board Policies and the ABYC Code of Conduct currently in place, and as revised or amended from time to time. Copies of these documents will be provided to me/us upon acceptance as Senior Member and are posted on the club website.

Pre-Authorized Debit (PAD) Program*

I/We agree to enroll in the ABYC Full Pre-Authorized Debit (PAD) program whereby all membership dues, storage fees, capital assessments, food & beverage and all other club charges are automatically debited from my/our bank account each month. In the case of Senior Members (including Life Status), the full amount of membership dues, storage fees and capital assessments each year is calculated in January, divided by 12 and debited monthly. For Associates and Juniors, the full amount of dues and fees are debited in the month after membership is obtained or on annual renewal. Food & beverage and all other club charges are debited in the month after the charge is incurred.

Liability Insurance*

Senior Members are required to carry and provide proof of valid vessel liability insurance in the amount of $2,000,000.00 or more to be presented to the Club prior to vessel acceptance in the Club Fleet, and subsequent insurance renewals are to be filed with the Club yearly.

Statement of Membership Liability Waiver and Acceptance of Fee Structure*

Ashbridge’s Bay Yacht Club (“Club”) shall not be liable for any damages arising from personal injury, property loss or damage, sustained by the Club User (Senior Member, Associate or Junior) in attending in the Club and using Club facilities. The Club User assumes full responsibility for any personal injury, property loss or damage which may be sustained by the Club User in, on or about the Club facilities and hereby fully and forever releases and discharges the Club, its directors (solely in their capacity as directors), agents and employees from any and all claims present and future, whether the same be known or unknown, anticipated or unanticipated resulting from or arising out of the Club User’s use of the Club facilities, including but without limitation, any claims for personal injury, property loss or damage arising out of the negligence of the Club or any of its Club Users, agents and employees or any other persons using the Club facilities as Guests or invitees to the extent that such assumption of risk and waiver of claims does not discharge, release or relieve the Club User’s insurance carriers under policies covering the Club User or his/her property.

If my/our application is accepted, I/We agree to honor my/our commitments above and I/We agree to abide by all Club By-laws, Rules, Policies, Regulations, and Code of Conduct as amended from time to time including payment of all applicable fees and assessments. Everyone who operates a power-driven boat in Canada needs proof of competency – something that shows they understand the rules of the water and how to safely operate a boat. In Canada, this is usually a Pleasure Craft Operator’s Card. Those operating a powerboat or sailboat with an auxiliary engine from the Club are also subject to the rules of the Toronto Port Authority.

Junior Membership

A Junior is an individual membership and does not include other family members who may attend the Club as Guests. A Junior has use of all Club facilities and may keep and store a sailing dinghy, kayak, or paddleboard, subject to space availability, and only after demonstrating to the club that the appropriate liability insurance is carried by the Junior or the Junior’s parent or guardian. A Junior cannot vote at General Meetings and may not hold office. A Junior applicant must be 7 to 29 years of age on January 1st. A Junior applying for Senior Membership will, after five consecutive years of membership have the Senior Member initiation fee waived. A Junior application must be sponsored by a Senior Member.

Associate Membership

An Associate is an individual membership and does not include other family members. An Associate’s spouse may apply at a reduced rate. An Associate has use of all Club facilities and may sail with another Club User but may only keep a sailing dinghy, kayak, or paddle-board at the club. He or she cannot vote at General Meetings and may not hold office. This is an annual membership that expires at the end of March. After two consecutive years of membership, an Associate may apply for Senior Membership and can apply 66% of dues previously paid towards the Senior Member initiation fee and, after 15 consecutive years, can apply 100% of dues previously paid to the initiation fee.

Small Boat – Sailing Dinghy

Allows the Club User to keep a sailing dinghy (launchable by hand on a ramp) on the premises, year round. You will be responsible for moving it each spring and fall to the designated summer and winter storage areas.

Small Boat – Paddleboards and Kayaks

Allows the member to keep a paddleboard, kayak or canoe on the premises, year round. You will be responsible for moving it each spring and fall to the designated summer and winter storage areas.

Co-op Sailing Programs

Any Senior Member, Associate or Junior may participate in the Co-op Sailing Program and, upon acceptance and payment of the prescribed fee, has the use of the program’s boats in accordance with the program’s rules.
This program requires a Junior, Associate, or Senior membership (via this application) and a separate application. See Co-op Program for details
