The Veneto and Friuli Venezia Giulia regions include Italy’s largest and most complete river navigation system.

Located in the north-eastern part of the country, the two regions are joined by a navigable canal dating from World War I. The canal connects a diverse water body of lagoons, salt marshes and rivers. And just as varied are the ports including ancient Roman cities, beach resorts of the Adriatic and the iconic islands of the Venetian lagoon.
