A new twist for this year… as our post-haul out party falls on November 2nd, we will be celebrating ‘Dia de los Muertos’ or Day of the Dead’. If you haven’t already chosen your Halloween costume, why not consider a Day of the Dead theme? Just imagine some of the cool costumes and make-up! There will be prizes for ‘Best Day of the Dead’ costume, as well as ‘Best Any Theme’ costumes for individual, couple and group.
Also, as is befitting for Dia de los Muertos, any members who wish to commemorate their lost loved ones are welcome to bring along a photo or other commemorative item to place on the ofrenda or altar table.
‘Dià de Muertos’ is an annual celebration originating in Mexico, which traditionally involves family and friends gathering together on November 1st or 2nd to remember friends and family members who are no longer with us.
Today, it is celebrated all over the world with street parades and parties, painted faces and costumes featuring skeletons and skulls as well as colourful flowers, feathers and butterflies.
